Brief Description of the Organisation and Brand |
|
- Our client is a full service publishing corporate; government publishing services; and graphic design provider.
- They offer editorial, design, print and eBook services.
- The design work is quite varied, ranging from DL flyers through to books and brochures.
- They are increasingly offering web services.

The interns required skill set |
|
- The design intern would need good English skills as our client need to communicate to their clients clearly and accurately.
- They would need excellent Creative Suite 5 skills, specifically InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator expertise.
- Some knowledge of HTML, ePub and web design would be an advantage as many of their publications go into these formats as well as print.
- The design intern must have knowledge of producing print ready and web ready PDF files.

A list of tasks the intern may assist with |

- Designing publication covers
- Designing flyers and advertising material
- General office tasks as this is a small office and we all chip in when work is required
- Taking in changes on existing jobs as requested by clients.

Value the intern will take from this role |
|
- They will gain hands-on experience in a local publishing company.
- Learn the process of production from the receipt of the manuscript through to supplying the printer with files.
- Valuable experience in seeing how client requests are handled on sometimes complex publications.
- They will be able to list Australian experience on their CV and we would be more than happy to provide a reference at the end of the period, assuming all goes well.
