Our client works for the NSW oyster aquaculture industry, in the promotion and sale of new technology. The oyster industry in NSW employs over 350+ people in 40 rivers state wide. It is managed by NSW State Government, Department of Primary Industries while several non government oyster consortium groups including lobby groups and universities are involved in its development. It is a sustainable seafood industry, adopting new harvesting technologies and attracting young people. | |
The interns required skill set: | |
Excellent knowledge of Twitter and its functions Excellent presentation and communication skills for small audiences in interactive board-room style workshops and larger on-site and sometimes out door workshop. Understanding of rural coastal communities Passion for environmental sustainability Knowledge of primary industries in Australia, particularly fisheries Patience, understanding, open-mindedness. |

A list of tasks the intern may assist with: | |
The intern will assist with the delivery of workshops that will teach oyster farmers how to use social media, and in particular Twitter. Oyster farmers have smart phones, however they rarely take full advantage of the communication and marketing capacity of their devices. Social media is very undervalued in the oyster industry, but this can turn around with the right enthusiastic person who can grab their attention on a grass roots level, to teach them how to use social media, and show them how applicable it is to their businesses. The intern may be required to travel to remote parts of coastal NSW (north and south), and Sydney. |
